Department: Restoration Now Anti-Human Trafficking New Castle County

Reports to: Anti-Human Trafficking Victim Program Manager

Supervises: NA

Status: $23/hr. Non-exempt

Schedule : Part Time Plus – up to 24 hours weekly

    FUNCTION: The Restoration Now Victim Advocate (VA) will provide intensive case management, mentoring and services for all adult victims of human trafficking identified. The VA will provide referrals for all minor victims of human trafficking and will work with the area service provider partners to ensure follow up and coordination of all aftercare services. The VA will also be responsible for assisting in planning, as well as participating in awareness and training events when applicable. They will attend meetings with local law enforcement contacts and local organizations such as (DATAC)Delaware Anti-human Trafficking Action Council and various advocacy groups. The VA will be located onsite at the Delaware Salvation Army but will require ongoing travel throughout the state of Delaware and be on call via phone as needed.

    This program position is contingent upon grant funding.

Responsibilities

Duties:

  • Conduct Initial screening and intake of newly identified victims of HT and ensure all coordinated referrals are made to community and grant partners.

  • Initiate and execute both Safety Plan and Individualized Case Plan with each victim.

  • Participate in DATAC as part of a subcommittee or in place of Program Manager.

  • Continue to develop a coordinated service provider network in New Castle, Kent and Sussex Counties.

  • Participate and Planned Outreach Activities and awareness events that could be an evening or weekend

  • Manage a direct service caseload of 8-10 clients at any given point and provide comprehensive mobile case management to meet the individualized needs of each participant, with a focus on safety, security needs and healing processes, that are developmentally appropriate.

  • Participate in the ongoing planning and development process and tasks of OVC 36 month funded Integrated services for Victims of Human Trafficking grant.

  • Keep up to date case notes and ensure client confidentiality in all forms of communication.

  • Submit timely reports on case management duties to the Program Manager.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSW or related field with or minimum two years’ experience working in human trafficking or a related field (e.g. domestic violence, immigrant rights, workers’ rights) or comparable combination of experience and education in Human Trafficking in a role that involves service provision, training, and/or advocacy.

  • Experience with trauma informed care preferably a working knowledge of Sanctuary Model for Trauma informed services.

  • Must have an understanding of the issue of Domestic and Foreign Human Trafficking.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel from site to site as may be needed in the performance of duties.

  • Professional-level communications skills verbal and written.

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.

  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing & reporting child abuse.

  • Meets the State of Delaware Child Abuse Registry screening requirements.

  • Clearance, DE State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
