Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Full-Charge Bookkeeper to join our construction team. As a Full-Charge Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of our financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This role is crucial in maintaining the financial health and efficiency of our construction projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Records Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all construction projects, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.

  • Accounts Payable: Process invoices, verify expenses, and ensure timely payment to vendors and subcontractors. Manage vendor relationships and resolve any billing discrepancies.

  • Accounts Receivable: Generate and send invoices to clients, track payments, and follow up on overdue accounts. Monitor receivables to ensure timely collection.

  • Payroll Processing: Calculate and process weekly or bi-weekly payroll for construction staff, including union and non-union employees. Ensure compliance with prevailing wage laws and union agreements.

  • Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies. Investigate and resolve any banking issues or errors.

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow projections. Provide analysis and insights into financial performance.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of project budgets and forecasts. Monitor project expenses and variances, and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures.

  • Tax Compliance: Collaborate with external accountants to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Prepare and file quarterly and annual tax returns as required.

  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain organized and accurate financial documentation, including contracts, invoices, receipts, and payroll records. Ensure compliance with record-keeping requirements.

  • Software Proficiency: Utilize accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, etc.) proficiently to manage financial transactions, generate reports, and streamline processes.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

  • Proven experience (3+ years) working as a Full-Charge Bookkeeper, preferably in the construction industry.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of prevailing wage laws, union payroll, and construction accounting practices is a plus.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with team members.

  • CPA certification or relevant professional certification is desirable but not required.
